About this Website

The purpose of this website is to provide information about, support material for, and links to Quick Start Workbooks.

The support material includes downloadable files such as sample scripts and small applications, as well as videos that describe how to do something that is described in a particular book.

The books use a tutorial, hands-on, approach that typically leads you through what we regard as being the main tasks that can be performed with a particular software application or programming language, for example, the Camtasia Studio video editing suite. We have adopted this approach because we feel that it provides an efficient way for you, the reader, to get up to speed quickly.

This website is maintained by John Dixon, a veteran of the IT industry. John has been working as a technical writer since the mid-1980s, and as a web designer and developer since the mid-1990s.

About this Website, Quick Start Workbooks, and the Author

The purpose of this website is to provide a convenient place where you can view videos and download files for books in the Quick Start Workbook series. The site also provides links to Amazon websites where you can buy the books.

The writing style for the books uses a tutorial, hand-on, approach that leads you through what we regard as being the main tasks that can be performed with a particular software application or programming language, for example, Camtasia Studio. We have adopted this approach because we feel that it provides an efficient way for the reader to get up to speed quickly.

We have tried to make the price of the books as reasonable as possible. Of course, we want to make a profit on the books we sell, but at the same time we want to provide value for money. We want the readers of our books to be pleased with what they have bought.

This website is maintained by John Dixon - an IT professional with over 30 years' experience in the industry. John is also the author of the Camtasia Studio Quick Start Workbook, the Perl and Regular Expressions Quick Start Workbook, and our free book that takes you on a nostalgic trip where you can discover the history of the computer.

John has been working as a technical writer since the mid-1980s. During this time he has written numerous books about software applications, operating systems, and computer hardware.

John also enjoys designing and developing websites, which is something he has been doing since 1997 when he produced his first website whilst working at Hewlett-Packard in Grenoble, France. Since then he has designed and built sites for large companies such as IBM, as well as many small companies.
